2Hopkins First Apartment Complex to Install Smiota’s Refrigerated Lockers

Refrigerated locker

2Hopkins, a luxury high-rise apartment complex in downtown Baltimore, has announced the installation of Smiota’s refrigerated lockers. They are the first apartment community in the United States to do so.

Residents at 2Hopkins don’t always have immediate access to the grocery store, so grocery and meal kit delivery is a popular choice. LIVEbe, a premier apartment developer and operator, chose this amenity for their complex to allow residents to utilize fresh food delivery services and have 24/7 access. With refrigerated lockers, time windows for delivery can remain flexible and residents don’t have to worry about the freshness of their food.

Elaine De Lude, vice president of LIVEbe says, “There has been an uptick in demand for food-delivery services, and we’ve closely observed the trends of companies such as Blue Apron, HelloFresh and Instacart. 2Hopkins is using an innovative solution to conquer a real challenge, and we believe this is a state-of-the-art amenity that will provide a true benefit to our residents.”

Installed in early August, the unit features eight refrigerated lockers and 62 dry package lockers. The temperature controlled lockers can be adjusted anywhere between chilled and frozen.
